Textural Differentiation: The color overlay reacts dynamically to fluid movement, producing subtle color separation along the stain edges as liquid spreads, mirroring the chromatic separation observed in physical drying stains.
Personalization: Adding color variations introduces immediate visual distinction between different drawing sessions, ensuring no two generated stains look identical.
Reflection
Monochrome simulation can easily look flat or overly algorithmic. Integrating layered color into the procedural noise pipeline brought an immense sense of depth and organic life to the visuals.
It proves that subtle chromatic shifts can make digital generative systems feel remarkably warm, physical, and tactile.

To reinforce the participatory identity aspect of the installation, I upgraded Module 3 (Visual Output) by introducing real-time participant name rendering alongside a backend session tracking and counter management system.
How
Live Name Rendering: I designed an input text field where participants type their name or handle. Using string parameters in TouchDesigner, their identity is rendered dynamically onto the generative canvas, anchoring the stain to a specific author.
Session Counter & Reset: I built an automatic image generation counter to track total participant sessions, accompanied by an administrative reset option to streamline backend dataset management during user testing.
Reflection
A generative system becomes far more meaningful when participants can claim ownership of their output.
Seeing one’s name dynamically integrated into an evolving, fluid stain elevates the experience from casual interaction to a act of personal self-expression, directly linking individual identity to the collective dataset.
